My brief was to portray the human brain as both an idealised wireframe, and as an MRI scan -where bright primary colours deliniate particular levels of cerebral activity.
The brain model shown here comes from a 3rd-party retailer - Zygote, possibly, although I've seen what looks suspiciously like the same mesh appear on more than one retail site. Regardless of its provenance, I took the basic mesh, increased the resolution and tidied it up significantly; adding mapping, materials and effects prior to my rendering.

The wireframe version simply needed some straightforward cosmetics in post, but creating a plausible 3d MRI effect required more input: primarily AE animated sequences; used in 3ds Max as cylindrical maps on the brain mesh. A simple matte element was used in post to give an interlaced video feel. |
